FoodPanda.sg : More than just fast food delivery

When one thinks of Food Delivery, we will quickly related to the big 3 red-colour brands that carries Pizza, fried chicken or that feel-good fast food. However, often, I would prefer food delivery would be more than just fast food or pizza.

Working in an area far away from the central business district and having to rely on nearby canteens for lunch options, more than often I am pretty tired of eating the same thing.

I wished we had delivery services in Singapore like what we see in Korean or Japanese drama, where a delivery man from the nearby restaurant would come with this huge metal warmer that holds hot delicious Ja-Jeon mian (Korean version of a bolognese) or the Japanese Chuka (Japanese-Chinese food) style fragrant fried rice and soupy noodles.

I do know of some restaurants providing such food delivery services but most of the time, their menu and service fees are not properly stated and I will not even consider ordering with them in fear that I may not get my order at all.

Food Panda Food Delivery service (www.foodpanda.sg) solves all my problems. With this service, I could have a party planned and food delivered in an hour of two from different restaurants to my home /workplace/ any place literally, without the hassle of calling catering.

I devised a plan one afternoon with an initial plans to order Tony Roma’s ribs to my office for a surprise munch session with my office colleagues. However, to my disappointment, Tony Roma’s do not deliver to my workplace postal code. That was when I discovered how Foodpanda.sg website  or the mobile app cleverly list out the restaurants that deliver to your area by the postal code. This is very useful for restaurants who would love to join in the food delivery bandwagon, this is one useful function to consider.

Nevertheless, it is also helpful to us! Imagine the endless variety of restaurants, differs across the island of Singapore. Mmmmmmm~

So……. instead of Tony Roma’s, my second choice was Shepherd’s pie. My office colleagues LOVE shepherd’s pie.

Through the app, besides information about the restaurant (it also tells you if the restaurant is open or close for the day), I was able to see other customers’ review of the service they received from the restaurant itself. The reviews did help me to gauge the taste and quality of the food as well as the timing of delivery arrival.

I love the simplicity of the ordering system. Every menu item is labelled out specifically, even with the ingredients listed! It did helped cause we had a colleague who doesn’t eat cheese.

So with a few taps on my mobile screen, I send out the order and waited.

After 1 hour 15 mins, the delivery guy arrived at the porch of my workplace building and the Shepherd’s pie was still piping hot in the box!

It was a nice surprise to my colleagues.

I rally them all over to chill out and have some shepherd’s pie. I only can say one thing: They loved  it!

My colleagues were raving about the cheese and the black pepper chicken and they were all asking where I got this Shepherd’s Pie from.

The Shepherd’s Pie

Black Pepper Chicken Shepherd’s Pie

Yummy Ingredients inside the pie. Look at the cheese oozing!!

In my opinion, the black pepper chicken Shepherd’s Pie was good. The mash potato layer was thick enough . Initially, I was quite concerned about the black pepper chicken being too spicy, but it turned out alright. The cheese just melts into the chicken and the saltiness of the black pepper chicken just balanced out with the mash potato. It was not dry as many others have reviewed, I guess it was really down to the baking time. The browning on the mash potato was just right, not pulling out the moisture from the delectable pie.

Overall, it was a delicious shepherd’s pie. I would definitely recommend this for tea or a party food! My colleagues and I had an awesome afternoon enjoying some afternoon tea break and chit-chatting in between. Nothing beats team bonding with food and drinks on the table.

Thank you Foodpanda and The Shepherd’s Pie
